Feeding Families Drive
The Feeding Families Drive is BC’s annual canned food drive benefiting Our Daily Bread Food Pantry. Every year students, faculty and staff compete within their houses and communities to see who can bring in the most canned food items, with top communities receiving Eagle Cup points and top houses getting a Pride Day.
Once the cans have been collected and tallied, sculpture construction begins. Sculptures are based on a new theme every year, from food to movies to emojis, and displayed throughout the school for several weeks. Eagle Cup points are given to the community sculpture that is judged to be the best.
On the first Monday after Thanksgiving break, the entire school comes together for De-CAN-struction, where all the sculptures are broken down and every can is organized, packaged and shipped off to Our Daily Bread Food Pantry.
The 2019 Feeding Families Drive was a record breaking one, with Our Daily Bread reporting that 5,550 families will be fed with the over 34,195 cans collected--10,003 more than the previous year!
