Bishop Carroll Seniors Named National Merit Semifinalists

Bishop Carroll Catholic High School is proud to announce that seniors Emily Foster and Claire Stockemer have been named Semifinalists in the 2027 National Merit Scholarship Program.

More than 1.2 million high school juniors entered the 2027 competition by taking the 2025 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Emily and Claire are among more than 16,000 students nationwide selected as Semifinalists, representing less than 1% of U.S. high school seniors.

Semifinalists now have the opportunity to advance to the Finalist level and compete for approximately 6,700 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $24 million. To advance, students must meet several academic and application requirements, including maintaining an outstanding academic record, receiving the recommendation of a school official, submitting an essay and demonstrating leadership and involvement in their school and community.

More than 15,000 Semifinalists are expected to advance to Finalist standing, with Finalists notified in February. Scholarship winners will be announced beginning in April 2027.

Bishop Carroll congratulates Emily and Claire on this exceptional academic achievement. We are proud to have these outstanding students represent our school community and wish them continued success in the National Merit Scholarship competition.
