Each year during Homecoming Week, the entire Bishop Carroll Catholic High School student body and staff step beyond the classroom and into the Wichita community for Serve Day; a school-wide day dedicated to putting our faith into action through service.
Students and staff spend approximately three hours volunteering at nonprofit organizations, parishes, schools and community agencies throughout Wichita and the surrounding area. From completing hands-on projects to assisting organizations with their day-to-day work, Serve Day provides an opportunity for our students to give their time and talents while learning more about the needs within their own community.
Following their service projects, students and staff gather for picnics before returning to Bishop Carroll for the Stewardship Fair and a presentation from the Stewardship Team.
During the Stewardship Fair, students have the opportunity to meet representatives from local nonprofit and service organizations, learn about their missions and discover ways to become involved. The goal is for Serve Day to be more than a single day of volunteering; it is an opportunity for students to identify causes that are meaningful to them and make connections that can lead to continued service throughout high school and beyond.
At Bishop Carroll, stewardship calls us to recognize our God-given gifts and use them in service to others. Serve Day gives our entire school community the opportunity to live that mission together.
