WSU Tech Reminders for Parents:
• Your student does need to sign out each day. This takes place in the library and needs to be done before leaving campus. Other students cannot sign out for your student.
• WSU Tech classes are college classes. They expect your student to be present during each session and traditionally only allow a student to miss up to 3 times. Anything beyond that results in dismissal from the WSU Tech program.
• WSU Tech classes are college-level classes. Students should expect to complete college-level work and give college-level effort in their classes. WSU Tech sets the grading scales for their classes. Some classes require a “C” or better to maintain status in the program. Students that receive sub-par grades from WSU Tech may be dismissed from the WSU Tech program.
• Students who are dismissed from the WSU Tech program lose the BCCHS elective credit that they were intending to receive and must remain on the BCCHS campus all day. They will not be allowed to leave campus at their usual time anymore.
• Communication about problems with WSU Tech need to be communicated directly to WSU Tech. Feel free to include your student’s BCCHS Counselor on those communications, but BCCHS staff do not have the ability to change things on behalf of WSU Tech. Billing, scheduling, course selection, grade scales, etc. are all things that are outside of BCCHS control.
• Students will have their grades updated roughly every two weeks in PowerSchool. This is determined on WSU Tech’s timeline, the BCCHS PowerSchool grades will be updated as frequently as they are communicated. Your student’s WSU Tech Canvas/JumpStart account are the sources of the most up-to-date information.
• It is the responsibility of you and your student to ensure that your student can get to WSU Tech. BCCHS will make sure that they leave with enough time to get to their classes. BCCHS will not guarantee time for stops or give students transportation to and from WSU Tech campuses.
• WSU Tech classes are a semester-long commitment. No students that begin a program at WSU Tech will be allowed to change out of the program until the semester is complete. Students that withdraw from classes will surrender their BCCHS elective credit and surrender their status as a student in good standing at BCCHS. Students will potentially not be allowed to return to BCCHS as a student. Students that withdraw themselves could also put their ability to graduate from BCCHS in jeopardy.
• BCCHS is not responsible for accidents or injuries that happen going to and from WSU Tech campuses.
