Academics & Academies

One of the most unique aspects of the Bishop Carroll academic system is our use of Academies. The academies allow our students to delve deeper into a certain subject matter and emerge with a more complete skill set in that area.

St. Joseph Construction Science Trade Academy

Designed to introduce high school juniors and seniors to the various fields of technical and skill trades such as plumbing, carpentry and more. It focuses on various careers that may not require a four-year college degree but may require a post-secondary vocational or apprenticeship program.

St. Benedict Engineering Academy/Project Lead the Way

Project Lead the Way (PLTW) is the leading provider of rigorous and innovative Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education and curricular programs used in middle and high schools across the nation.

St. Gianna Health Academy

The Health Academy allows selected BCCHS students to attend class and shadow doctors and nurses at Via Christi Hospital.  Students observe surgeries, therapy and other patient care, and complete a college medical terminology course. More information available at www.stgianna.org.

Tom Seiler Teaching Academy

Named after former BCCHS instructor Tom Seiler, the Teaching Academy is an innovative partnership between Newman University and Bishop Carroll that supports parishes in low-income communities.  The outcome of the Teaching Academy is to achieve a pipeline of teachers for the Catholic community.
