General Admissions Policy
Bishop Carroll Catholic High School is part of the Catholic Diocese of Wichita and follows the Diocese’s stewardship-based model of Catholic education.
Bishop Carroll offers admission to Catholic high school students within the Diocese of Wichita who:
-
are active members of their parish;
-
are committed to living the stewardship way of life within their parish; and
-
are sponsored by their pastor to attend BC.
Preference is given to students who meet these criteria and complete all application, placement testing and fee requirements by the established deadlines.
When enrollment is limited, admission priority is generally given in the following order:
-
Catholic students who have attended a Catholic school for three or more years.
-
Catholic students who have attended a Catholic school for fewer than three years.
-
Catholic students who have not previously attended a Catholic school.
-
Non-Catholic students.
Final admission decisions are made by Bishop Carroll in consultation with pastors, except in cases involving students who have been expelled. Students will be formally notified of their acceptance to Bishop Carroll once all parish and elementary school requirements have been met. In some circumstances, BC may offer conditional acceptance.
Students from other faith traditions may also be admitted to Bishop Carroll at the discretion of the BC administration, provided space is available after Catholic students who meet the admission criteria have been served.
Admissions Application
Students coming to Bishop Carroll from a parish-based school within the Diocese of Wichita will receive admissions and enrollment information from their school during their eighth-grade year.
Students coming from other schools who wish to attend Bishop Carroll should contact BC for application materials and information about the admissions and enrollment process.
All applicants must provide Bishop Carroll with an official transcript from their current school, along with any other required documentation, to confirm eligibility for the grade level they wish to enter.
Admissions Process for Non-Feeder School and Transfer Applicants
Students who are not currently enrolled in a Catholic parish grade school within the Diocese of Wichita, currently attend another high school, or are new to the Diocese are considered transfer applicants. Transfer applications are reviewed individually by the Bishop Carroll admissions team.
To be considered for admission to BC, applicants may be asked to submit the following:
-
Completed application form
-
Application fee
-
Most recent transcript, current grades and course schedule
-
Attendance and discipline records
-
ILP, IHP, IEP or 504 Plan, if applicable
-
Letter of recommendation
-
Birth certificate
-
Medical form
-
Immunization records
Applications will not be reviewed until all required materials have been received.
After the application materials are received, BC will contact the family to schedule an interview. The student will meet with a school administrator and counselor as part of the admissions process.
Following the interview, the admissions team will review the completed application and make an admission decision. In some cases, acceptance may be conditional upon receiving updated health or immunization records, final semester grades, or meeting other requirements established by the school.
Shadow Days
Students considering Bishop Carroll may have the opportunity to spend a half or full school day with a current BC student. A shadow day gives prospective students the chance to experience classes, meet students and teachers, and get a better feel for daily life at Bishop Carroll.
Shadow visits are offered on select school days during the academic year. Because special schedules, programs and other events can affect the normal school day, some dates may not be available.
When prospective students arrive, they will be paired with a BC student ambassador who will serve as their host throughout the visit. Shadow students may observe P.E. classes but will not participate. They are encouraged to participate in other classes and will have the opportunity to eat lunch with BC students.
Contact Bishop Carroll to schedule a shadow day or learn more about the transfer admissions process.
International Student Program
Thank you for considering Bishop Carroll Catholic High School for your education in the United States.
As a Catholic high school within the Diocese of Wichita, Bishop Carroll’s first priority is serving local students. However, BC also welcomes a limited number of international students each year, and these students are an important part of our school community.
International applicants must meet two important requirements. First, students must be Catholic and comfortable participating fully in the faith life and religious requirements of Bishop Carroll. Second, BC does not offer an English as a Second Language (ESL) program. International students must demonstrate a high level of English proficiency and be able to understand, speak, read and write English well enough to succeed in BC’s academic program. Documentation of both Catholic faith and English proficiency is required.
Bishop Carroll does not have dormitories or provide housing placement services for international students. BC prefers to work with agencies that have local representatives. The agency is responsible for screening and selecting host families and handling any compensation provided to the host family.
Bishop Carroll operates on a semester system with two semesters each school year. The first semester begins in August. International students are accepted for an August start date only; BC does not accept international students beginning in January.
International tuition, fees and other financial requirements are established annually by Bishop Carroll. Financial aid and scholarships are not available to international students.
To be considered for admission and for BC to issue the documentation needed for an I-20, international applicants must provide:
-
Transcript from the student’s current school
-
English proficiency test results
-
Color copy of the student’s passport
-
Date of birth
-
Home address in the student’s home country
-
Address where the student will live while attending Bishop Carroll in Wichita, Kansas
Families interested in the International Student Program should contact Bishop Carroll for current tuition information, application requirements and submission instructions.
Applications for the 2027-2028 Academic Year will open in October.
