2011-2012 Syllabus

Procedures

  1. The bell does not begin or end class.  Class begins when you enter the door and class end when I dismiss you.  Please stay in your seats when the bell rings.
  2. Be respectful of myself and your classmates.  This includes language, tone of voice and general attitude.
  3. I have very little tolerance for teasing or harassing other students.  Keep in mind, INTENT DOES NOT MATTER, if it offends some one, then don’t say it.
  4. If you have an issue you would like to discuss with me, (grades, discipline etc.) please feel free to do so.  I ask that you keep in mind that there is a time and a place for everything and the middle of class is rarely that time.  If possible talk to me before or after the school day.
  5. It is imperative that you stay current on your homework.  Math builds on itself which means getting behind by a couple of days can sometimes take weeks to make up if you let it.
  6. I have absolutely no tolerance for cheating in my class.  If caught cheating the student will be given a zero on the assignment and lose participation points for the week.  If caught cheating on a test the student will receive a zero with no chance to retake.  IF A STUNDET INTENTIONALLY LETS A STUDENT CHEAT OFF THEIR TEST THEY WILL ALSO RECEIVE A ZERO.  IF A STUDENT UNINTENTIONALLY LETS A STUDENT CHEAT OFF THEIR TEST THEY WILL RECEIVE HALF CREDIT.  PROTECT YOUR ANSWERS!!

Grading

Your grade is based on three separate categories.  The breakdown is:

  1. Homework:  homework is worth 25% of your grade.  Work will be assigned daily and is due back the next class period.  If you have questions over an assignment please feel free to see me before or after school and I will help you.
  2. Participation:  participation is worth 10% of your grade.  There is no excuse for missing these points, they include, but are not limited to, showing up prepared, staying on task and taking notes.  I will periodically collect your notebooks for a grade.  THESE ARE EASY POINTS!!!! DO NOT MISS THEM!!!
  3. Tests:  test will determine the majority of your grade and are worth 65%.  I do allow retakes if you have a bad test.  In order to be eligible to retake you must have every assignment turned in and meet with me before or after school once before the retake to review.

I have read the above syllabus and agree to terms above
