- Course Goal: This is a survey course of the history of the Roman Catholic Church up to the 20th Century. The class will stress that Christ instituted the Church, and has placed that authority under the successor of St. Peter. The history of the Church is one of a pilgrim people united, as the Mystical Body of Christ that develops, not evolves, over the ages.

- 2-4 sheets of poster board for projects throughout the semester
E. Assessments
1. Class work: notes, discussion, assigned readings, small group work
2. Home work: written assignments, short papers
3. Projects: 1st and 2nd nine weeks projects
4. Quizzes: given frequently
5. Tests: after each major section of material, midterm, and final exam
F. Grading
- 90% of the grade: Tests, quizzes, class work, home work, papers, projects, class participation
- 10% of the grade: Final Exam
- Work that is not readable or not done according to the directions will not receive full credit
- Points will be deducted for no name on work

G. Late Work
1. Excused Absences:
- It is the student’s responsibility to get all make-up work (notes, assignments, quizzes, and tests)
- All work, quizzes, and/or tests must be completed within two days of returning from an excused absence
- Work not turned in after two days on returning from an excused absence will receive a zero
- See me about scheduling a day to make-up quizzes and tests
*****(make-ups will need to be after school)
2. Late Work
- Work submitted after assigned time will be considered late
- All late work will receive no higher grade than a C
- After 1 day, late work will receive a zero
- Work submitted late due to unexcused absences will be dealt with accordingly
H. Inappropriate Behavior
- Any disrespectful behavior showing disregard for other students, teachers, administrators, or school property
- Cheating: copying homework from another student, cheat sheets on tests and quizzes, any communication during a test or quiz, plagiarism
- Consequences: Will vary depending on the nature of the behavior: time after class or after school, demerit(s), detention(s), a written essay, an apology, an email or phone call home, or other consequences that better suit the behavior
I. Classroom Procedures
- Before the bell to begin class or after class: Ask questions about assignments, getting make-up work (bathroom – drink – gum) before or after class
- Beginning class: In seat when bell rings, stand to pray, begin immediately, have materials out and ready to go
- Turning in work: Due at the beginning of class – last minute completion (stapling papers, filling in unfinished blanks) is considered late
- In class work: Individual, pair work, small group – low volume and on task
- End of class: Even if the bell has rung, wait to pack up until you are excused, ladies will leave the room first
J. Communication
- If you have a need, special accommodations, seating, medical condition, etc. please communicate it to me early so that I can do whatever I need to in order to help you.
- If you need extra help before or after school just let me know – I will be more than happy to offer any assistance I can to help you!

- Course Goal: This is a survey course of the history of the Roman Catholic Church up to the 20th Century.
The class will stress that Christ instituted the Church, and has placed that authority under the successor of St. Peter. The history of the Church is one of a pilgrim people united, as the Mystical Body of Christ that develops, not evolves, over the ages.
- As an honors class, this course will involve additional research in order to delve more deeply into the topics
- There will be additional readings throughout the semester to supplement the textbook material
- Complaining about work shows a lack of discipline and maturity, which are necessary for a course of this nature. If a student is openly and habitually critical; then there is cause to examine whether the student should remain in the honors program.
- Failure to earn a B- or above for the class results in removal from honors classes next semester.

This course will examine the revelation of God and His saving works throughout history. It will survey the major people, events, and books of Old Testament. Particular emphasis will be placed on God’s covenantal relationship with man, which comes to fulfillment through the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. It aims to aid the students in seeking what their role is in God’s plan so that they might continue living the story in their own lives.
