Materials Needed: Each day in addition to their textbook and workbook, students will need to bring:

- Pen (blue or black)
- Pencil
- 2-pocket folder
- A red pen
- A highlighter
- Index cards
It is recommended that students have:
- Three ring binder with dividers
- Dictionary (to use at home and/or make notes in)
Free Homework Pass: Please bring one of the following items by Friday of the second week in order to receive a free homework assignment. (OPTIONAL…NOT REQUIRED)
- Kleenex
-Markers/Crayons
-Scissors
-Construction Paper
*Only one Homework Pass will be given, regardless of amount of items
*The Homework Pass is ONLY good for one daily assignment, (NOT projects, papers, quizzes or tests)
Course Description: Students will begin developing language study skills. Students learn that to acquire proficiency in a foreign language, they must establish a routine for completing, reviewing, and practicing daily assignments. Students learn the correct sound system of the language. They also learn basic vocabulary, sentence structure, and listening skills. In addition, they have the opportunity to develop an awareness of comparisons and contrasts between US and Latin American cultures.
Classroom Rules:
- Respect – Don’t speak out of turn, do not destroy other’s property, etc.
*This includes but is not limited to the teacher, substitute teachers, classmates, guests, and classroom/school materials.
- Be prepared - This means, being on time, having your classroom materials, etc.
*You will not be allowed to go to your locker once in the classroom
- Be positive – learning is a process (especially in a foreign language)
*Not understanding is not an excuse; ask for help when needed.
4. All BCCHS rules/procedures listed in the agenda book will be enforced
Procedures:
Absence:
- All students are responsible for picking up their make-up work from the absent folder
- Extra Curricular Activities: If you have a planned absence, that days homework is to be turned in BEFORE you leave, work not received before you leave will be considered late (see late policy)
- Assignments turned in after an absence, need to be properly marked with an ‘absent’ sheet, which can be found at the ‘student center’
Exiting/Entering Classroom:
-Students not inside the door by the time the second bell rings are marked tardy
-Students are to work on quietly on ‘bellwork’ (warm-up) until class begins
-All backpacks should be placed at the back of the room before class begins.
-The teacher (NOT THE BELL) dismisses the class
Tardiness:
- All tardiness will result in a demerit (in accordance with BC policy)
Late Work:
- Late Assignments will automatically loose 50% of available points
- All late assignments need to be properly marked with a ‘tardy’ sheet, which can be found at the ‘student center’
- Last assignments will only be accepted up to 2 weeks past the original assigned date, any assignment turned in after 2 weeks will not receive any credit.
Cheating:
- ANY TYPE of Cheating/ Plagiarism will result in an automatic ‘0’ on homework, tests, quizzes, projects and papers
Make-up work:
- Make up quizzes or tests will be administered in room 203 after school (unless other arrangements are made)
- Make up quizzes or test need to be made up within one week of the original test date.
Paper Heading:
- All assignments must be labeled with:
First and last name
Class Hour
Date
Assignment Title
Page and exercise number (if available)
- Any paper not labeled as such will not receive any credit until heading is corrected, at which point, the assignment will be graded as a late assignment.
Homework/Assignments:
- All homework or assignments are to be turned in at the BEGINNING of class, any homework turned in after that will be considered LATE.
- Any homework done in class the day of the due date will not be accepted!
- Some homework assignments will be turned in through the use of edmodo.
Bathrooms:
- Students will receive a bathroom/locker pass, providing them with 4 trips to their locker/bathroom per semester.
- Only one student is allowed out of the room at a time
- Students will not be allowed to go to their locker/bathroom after their 4 passes are used.
Extra Credit:
- No extra credit will be given on an individual basis, however it may occasionally be given as an entire class opportunity
Student Expectations:
- Students are expected to come prepared for class, including having homework completed, having a pen/pencil, spiral notebook, workbook, and textbook.
- Students are expected to respect classroom rules/procedures
- Follow teacher instructions the FIRST time they are given
- Be responsible for their own learning
Grading:

(projects are assignments that last 2 days or more)
