Students will be expected to come to class with all materials and books each day.
Course Description: This course is an introduction into your vocational discernment. Students will be exposed to the lives of the saints as models for vocations. Students will also
get meaningful tools to get to know themselves and the different ways of Christian living so that they might be able to identify God’s will for them at some point in the future.
Course Goal: By semester’s end, the student will know the history and theological background of the three major Christian Vocations: Lay life, Ministerial life, and Consecrated life.
The student will also have the superficialtools to begin vocational discernment on their own. Lastly students will be engaged in
modern day social issues that are intertwined with their vocation, encouraging critical thinking and problem solving in today’s society.
Procedures and Policies:
- All Classes will begin with the Gospel reading of the day. All students are expected to be reverent and respectful during prayer. Talking or being disrespectful
during prayer will constitute a no questions asked demerit. Each day a different student will take the podium to read the day’s passage.
- Students are expected to be on time. Tardiness will not be tolerated. If you are tardy you will receive a demerit.
- Students are expected to be in class in order to receive participation points. Attendance is very important. Any unexcused absence will result in a zero for any work missed that day.
- All work needs to be completed on time. Late work is accepted 1 day late with 50% reduced score (zero credit after 1 day).
If you need an extension on something you will need to talk to me privately before it is due and I alone reserve the right to grant or deny the extension.
- Cheating will not be tolerated. Anyone caught cheating will immediately receive
a zero on that test or assignment, parent will be contact and student will receive a detention.
- All rules on the back of your demerit card will be strictly enforced. If I ask for you demerit card and you
argue with me you will automatically receive another demerit. Individual class disruptions will receive demerits.
- Students are not allowed to crowd the doorway for any
reason, especially before dismissal from class.
I will dismiss the class; the bell does not dismiss the class, but serves as a
reminder for the teacher. Crowding the doorway will result in a demerit and/or being held
late without a pass. Students are to stay seated in their assigned seats until dismissed by me.
- Textbooks are class sets, therefore you must take extra care with them if we are using them.
You will be assigned a number and a corresponding textbook when they are in use- you are responsible for the care of these books.
- Assigned seating is in place, the assumption is that you are able to sit there until given the freedom to do otherwise.
Grades and Assignments
I will grade based on total points. You will be evaluated in the following ways:
- Homework Assignments
- Quizzes and Tests
- Projects

This will make up 90% of your Semester Grade with the other 10% being decided by your final exam.
