Classroom Procedures

  • Students should be in their chair before tardy bell rings ready to take notes with assignments ready (and stapled ).
  • Student will show respect for other students, teachers, and property.
  • Laboratory room does NOT allow for food, drink or gum
  • Tabletops and countertops are for writing and lab experiments…not for sitting.
  • Bring textbook, Workbook, Loose leaf notebook paper, pencil/eraser,  and red ink pen/pencil, calculator
  • Cell phones and other electronic devices are not allowed during school hours
  • Students are expected to take notes on reading materials, add lecture notes, and write down questions to be clarified.  Student notes may be kept in spiral notebooks.
  • Assignments will NOT be accepted on spiral paper.  Place assignment in stacker when due and if absent, when you return to school.  Late work will be given zero.  If grading is not understood, students should ask for explanation.
  • Return graded assignments into your binder.  If grades are incorrectly recorded, bring graded paper to my attention. 
  • During test and quiz, student may not communicate.  Both hands must remain on the desktop; communication may result in zero on test or quiz and a report will be filed in the office. 
  • Graded Tests will be reviewed by the class and then will be kept by instructor; tests may be viewed by student and/or parents before/after school.  Tests will be used in classroom to study for semester final.
  • Any unexcused tardy (2nd thru 7th) will result in demerit.  First hour tardy must go through the office.
  • Students will dismissed by teacher after the room is put back in original condition. 
  • Students will solve problems, perform experiments, assist classmates and sometimes check and correct other student’s assignments. 

Supplies needed

  • Loose leaf notebook paper (college or regular rule)
  • Pencil #2, (may be mechanical)
  • Red grading pencil or pen
  • Spiral or folder for notes
  • Ruler (centimeter scale)

Grading

  • Grades will include Tests, Quiz, Homework, Lab reports, and Classwork .  Bishop Carroll grading scale will be used.
  • Late work will NOT be accepted
  • Total points will determine 90% of semester grade; Semester Final will be 10% of semester grade
  • Student Absence
    • If present any part of the day, students are expected to get assignments for the next day, place assignments due for that day in the stacker.
    • If assignment is given before the absence, work should be completed upon your return OR when the assignment was due (any exception will be discussed with instructor before or after school)
    • If assignment is given during the absence, work should be completed within two days.
    • If extended absence, a time table will be determined by teacher, student and parents
    • If suspended, students will be expected to maintain class schedule of completing work.  Students should make arrangement to take test/quiz and turn in all work on time.  Lab and Classwork will be given zeros.
    • Homework is to help students become independent learners, reinforce concepts demonstrated in class, and complete work started in class (ex:  lab report).  Students should expect to have homework or reading assignments on a regular basis.  Homework may not be graded, but will be reviewed.  Parents are welcomed to review/assist students.  Students are allowed to work with other students or tutors on homework assignments.   Copied work cheats students from realizing their abilities.
    • No grades will be entered until syllabus is signed and returned.
