Coach Michael M. Laubhan Michael M. Laubhan has taught and coached at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School for the last 20 years. Prior to BC, he had coaching and teaching stints at Garden City, Kansas, Walsh Colorado, Chase, Kansas, Horton, Kansas and Wichita East with a total of 33 years of coaching and teaching experience. Laubhan is a graduate of Russell High School in Russell, Kansas, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas, in 1973 and his Master of Science degree in 1980. While at Fort Hays, Laubhan was a member of the Track team and belonged to the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity, later serving as Alumni Michael Laubhan served his country as an officer in the US Army from 1968-1970. He was an Army Ranger LRRP, and his tour of duty included time in Vietnam and Europe. Career highlights include: 1982 - Teacher of the Year, USD 457 Garden City, Kansas 2000 - Vivian O’Connell Excellent in Teaching Award, Bishop Carroll 1985 & 1986 – District Representative to Kansas Football Coaches Association 1985 & 1986 - Coach of the Year - Hutchison News 1985 & 1986 - Coach of the Year - Lyons Daily News 1987 - Coach of the Kansas Shrine Bowl Football West Squad 1987 – Coach of the Kansas 8-Man All Star Football game, South Squad 1987 – Presenter at the Kansas State High School Activities Association Clinic 1987 – Presenter at the Fort Hays State Coaching Clinic 2003 – Presenter at the Hays High School Coaching Clinic 2004-2006 Vice President of the Kansas Coaching Association Laubhan is married to Kathleen Olomon. They will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary in May 2011. In the off-season, Laubhan enjoys attending clinics, reading, visiting with teachers and coaches, and going to the driving range at the Tex Consolver Golf Course.
