Bishop Carroll Journalism Receives All-Kansas Award

    The Bishop Carroll Catholic High School student newspaper has received an All-Kansas award, the highest ranking possible, from the Kansas Scholastic Press Association. An All-Kansas winner is described as "a quality newspaper that would compete well at any level."

It is the third time in the past four years that the "Flyer" has received All-Kansas.

Senior Audrey Garrett is the editor of the newspaper. Other editors are Kristyn Chapman (photo), Anna Deines (design), Anna Gunther (features), Preston Maus (business), Chris Ruder (multimedia), and Alex Walters (sports). Kollen Long is the adviser.

The judge described the writing in the paper as "superb," and said that staff members do a fine job of reporting. "I thoroughly enjoyed reading the entire publication," the judge said.

In addition, the judge praised the look of the paper's covers and described the overall design as "clean." Visuals in the paper are "extremely well thought out and executed."
