BC Family Stadium Turf Project - Update |
As of November 05, 2009 we have received pledges of $695,. We are grateful for the 235 donors that have contributed to make the Bishop Carroll Family Stadium an outstanding multi-purpose facility. The total cost of this project will be approximately $714,308 which includes all necessary track and field relocations and bonding costs. We will no longer be able to solicit gifts for this project, but we will be able to accept gifts or pledges to ensure that we fund this entire project through donations and not building operation budget.
Please continue to keep our school community in your prayers and we are grateful for the many blessings our school has received. I hope that all of you will be proud of the improvements we have made to make Bishop Carroll Catholic High School a better Catholic learning community. We could never have done these improvements without the stewardship and generosity of our donors which include alumni, parents, grandparents, staff, and many special friends. Family Stadium Turf Project A Reality

Construction is underway on the artificial turf at the Bishop Carroll Catholic High School Family Stadium. The unexpected opportunity came to light late in May when Andover-based ATG sports approached the BCCHS Administration with “a very fair bid on a great product,” according to Alan Schuckman. After receiving permission from the Bishop and pastors, superintendent, School Council and Building Committee, gifts were solicited and $665,000 was raised by June 30. Removing the existing grass, grading and other prep work began in June, and the underlayment and artificial turf installment happened in July. The project should be complete in time for Band Camp in August.
Many will benefit from the new addition: not just football and physical education classes, but also the soccer teams, band, and the Parochial League will utilize the BCCHS Family Stadium. “We are grateful for the 227 individuals and families that donated to the project to date, and we look forward to sharing our new multi-purpose facility with the diocesan community,” comments President Leticia Nielsen.
Great News from Bishop Carroll!
Bishop Carroll Catholic High School began work June 16 on a new artificial playing surface transforming our current football stadium into a multi-purpose stadium. Bishop Carroll Family Stadium will now be used for physical education classes, band, soccer, football, track & field, and all other sport that need an artificial playing surface. An agreement was signed June 15 by ATG Sports and the Wichita Catholic Diocese with construction beginning June 16. We thank the good stewards of the Wichita Diocese for making this project possible. Bishop Carroll would also like to thank ATG Sports for making this dream a reality. Bishop Carroll will now have a multi-purpose playing surface that is state of the art and will be a showcase for all other schools across Kansas. |
