State Recap:

The Eagles came into this season looking to repeat their success from last year with another championship. This goal was within their hands as they would make it to the State finals game. The road to the finals was not an easy one as they had to overcome a two close games to start out the tournament against Eisenhower and Shawnee Mill Valley. The Eagles defeated Eisenhower but it wasn’t as easy as expected with the final score 5-1. They would then move on to play Shawnee Mill Valley and that tested the Eagles as they defeated them 5-4. The Championship game was against Topeka Seaman and they have had a great team all season. The Eagles started Matt Henning and after a rough first inning, the team settled down and played great baseball. The score was 3-0 up until the 3rd and 5th innings when the Eagles got their bats going to tie the game at 3-3. Topeka, however, had a big inning in the top of the 7th scoring 7 runs! This would prove to be too much for the Eagles to handle. The Eagles met their match and came in 2nd in the State Tournament at WSU. Good job Eagles!!

State Recap:THIRD STRAIGHT STATE CHAMPIONSHIP!

The Eagles came into this season with loads of experience and good leadership. They had only lost 1 player last year and this kept the team together throughout the year as they all had one goal, to three-peat in state. They would do just that. The Eagles came into the State tournament with only 2 loses and lots of confidence. The first game was an eye opener for the Eagles as they faced Bishop Miege and had their closest game of the season. The game would result in an Eagle win 1-0. The next game was against Maize South and the Eagles were looking to avenge their loss to them earlier in the season. Well, they did just that as they would run away with the win 8-1. The championship game was against Shawnee Mill Valley and the Eagle offense and defense came to play in this game as the offense scored a run in every inning played! The Eagles defense didn’t give up a single run in 6 innings of play! They would succeed in winning state 5-0 and repeat their success in winning the State Title 3 years in a row! Great job Eagles!!
