Head Coach: Mike Skaggs
Assistants: Greg Rauch, Dan Berry
This past season was clearly a special one with our 16-2-3 finish as the best winning percentage in program history at 83%, which was also the best winning percentage of any school in 5A this season, besting the 2013 season’s 16-4-1, 78%. This season we won our 3rd City League title in the past 5 years, back to back undefeated titles. With the talent coming back, the expectation will be to be one of the most competitive programs in the State
This was our 3rd trip to the Final Four in the last 4 seasons. A 4th place in 2013, a 3rd in 2014, and a 3rd this weekend. I think it is safe to say that we have become the perennial power that we trying to become. The perennial powerhouses that we have now dominated include Northwest, whom we beat twice this season. Maize who we played three times, beating them twice, and playing to a tie once. We began our season with a 2-0 win over Kapaun, the first win in program history and ended the season with an amazing 3-1 win over Kapaun for 3rd place.
As we have become a more competitive program we were able to get out of the Goddard Tournament and move back into the more competitive Titan Classic. In our 2nd year back we made it to the finals of the Blue Bracket, the most competitive bracket of the Titan Classic. A bracket we will most likely be in again next year. Making it to the Championship Match an losing 3-2 to Dodge City who would go on to win 6A State with a perfect 21-0 season.
The season was full of great moments and accomplishments. Our 16-2-3 record included 12 shutouts, including eight in row leading up to the State Semifinal loss to St. James. A nine game win streak from our 3-1 win at Southeast on Oct. 4th that ended on Nov. 4th in our loss to St. James…we went undefeated through the entire month of October. The Region Final win over Maize was Coach Skaggs’ 100th win as Boys Head Coach at Bishop Carroll. A 13-0-3 record the last two seasons giving us back to back undefeated city league titles. Our 16-2-3 record include only 2 losses, one to the 21-0 undefeated 6A State Champions from Dodge City, and our 2nd loss coming to eventual 5A State Champion St. James.
The successful season brings with it awards.
