Concert Band

The Band received a "I" rating at the State Large Group Festival at East High School on April 12, 2017.

Concert Band performs at concerts, competitions, all-school masses, graduation and festivals throughout the year.  The band has had a long tradition of receiving Excellent and Superior ratings at its festivals.  Several of its members have auditioned and performed in the SCKMEA district band and the KSMEA all-state band.  In the Spring, students also participate in the KSHSAA Solo and Ensemble Festivals.

In previous years, the band has traveled to Colorado Springs, Dallas, San Antonio and Chicago for concert performance competitions.

Marching Band - Screamin' Eagles Music Corps

Under the direction of Mr. Christopher Dean the Screamin' Eagle Music Corps competes in several field shows and parade competitions throughout the year, as well as preforming at halftime of home football games.

They received an overall "1" rating for the downtown parade and fairgrounds music performance at the 2017 Kansas State Fair.  At the 2016 Southern Plains Marching Festival they brought home a 1 plus score overall!  The percussion section also scored an outstanding 1 rating!

BCCHS has a long tradition of excellence in its percussion line.  The drumline is part of the Screamin' Eagle Marching Corps and performs during the fall for football season.  During the past two years, the drumline and pom squad have been invited to perform at the Wichita Thunder Hockey Team games.  The percussion ensemble also competes at the KSHSAA Regional and State Solo and Ensemble competitions in the spring.

Combined Saints Band

Being involved in music has shown to be beneficial for learning in other subject areas. Band is a great way to learn about music and play in an ensemble with other students. Not all Catholic schools have a band program, so Bishop Carroll hosts both a Beginner and Intermediate Band after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays throughout the school year.

How to Join:

At the beginning of each school year, an information sheet is distributed to all Bishop Carroll feeder schools detailing an instrument try-out/sign-up night. One of the local music stores will be on hand to let your student try out several different band instruments and allow you to purchase them at a discounted cost. Financing is also available through the stores.

More information will also be posted on this webpage.

Cost is $100/year or $50 each semester. If you have financial concerns, please contact Mr. Dean. Some instruments may be available from the school.
