• If a student is absent on the day of a test, the student must take the test the day he/she returns, unless otherwise arranged with the teacher.

• If a student is absent on the day of lab, arrangements must be made with the teacher to make-up the lab or receive a zero.

ISS or OSS:

Students receiving In School Suspension or Out of School Suspension WILL NOT  be allowed to make up the work missed during those days in suspension.  This includes homework, lab work, AND TESTS. The students will receive a zero on each assignment missed because of ISS and OSS.

Ÿ  If a student is kicked out of my classroom, that student WILL NOT be allowed to make up the work missed during the time out of class.  This includes homework, lab work, AND TESTS.

Cheating:

Cheating will not be tolerated in my class.  If a student is caught cheating he or she will receive a zero on the assignment or test and will be reported to the administration and parents.

Pass Card

Each student will receive a pass card unique to Chemistry 1.  You will have 5 passes to use at your discretion. You can use it for the bathroom, get a drink or perhaps to get an assignment or book from your locker.  Anytime you need to leave the classroom you will have to use your own pass card.  You must have your pass card in your possession in order to use your pass card.  If you must leave the room and do not have your pass card you will either receive a demerit or chose not to leave the classroom.  Each time a pass is used I will punch the pass and you will have one less pass remaining. For every pass you have remaining at the end of the semester, I will reward you 2 points extra credit to be credited to your Final Exam. The maximum extra credit you may receive is 10 points each semester.   In order to receive these extra credit points you must have your pass card in your possession the day of the Final, no exceptions. If you lose your pass card you are out of luck, I will not give you another one.

Ways to make Chemistry 1 a success!!

• Read the sections covered prior to class.

• Please ask questions if you don’t understand! Discovery is based on questions!!

• Get Involved! When in lab or working in groups, get your hands dirty!

•This will be a hard class, requiring studing, reading and homework outside the classrooom. . . but I know each one of you has the potential to be a success!!!
