Grading; Nine week and semester grades are figured on the basis of total points, the number of which will vary from one grading period to the next. All test are worth 100 points. Quizzes and homework are worth a varying number of points depending on the length and difficulty. Each quarterly grade counts as 45% of the semester grade with the semester final exam counting the remaining 10%.
CLASSROOM POLICIES
1. Students are responsible for all assigned work including work missed due to absences for any reason. Work not made up within one week will be recorded as a zero.
2. All tests must be made up within one week of the original test or the grade will be recorded as a zero. Tests must be made up before or after school rather than during a regular class period. Extensions may be granted on a case-by-case basis for a lengthy illness or family crisis. Students who fail or do poorly on a test should see me when the test is returned to inquire about re-testing.
3. Students with an unexcused absence may possibly not be able to make up work.
4. Cheating will not be tolerated, including the copying of homework assignments. A grade of zero will be recorded for both parties involved in cheating. Repeat offenses could result in a grade of “F” for the semester.
5. This class period should be devoted to the study of French. It is not a study hall. Doing work for other classes will not be allowed.
6. All assignments must be marked with the student’s FIRST and LAST name, the class name and hour, and the page and exercise numbers. Papers without the required identification will not be recorded.
7. Bring your book and supplies to class including your agenda book. You will not be allowed to leave the room for any reason without it.
8. Workbooks will remain in the classroom.
9. Be respectful to all people. Treat every one as you would like to be treated. Help to create an atmosphere where everyone can learn.
10. All rules of Bishop Carroll High School as spelled out in the agenda book, will be enforced. (i.e. no gum, shirt tails in, two buttons buttoned, earrings, plain white undershirts etc.). Disrespect of anyone and inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
I will be available to students before and after school. Tests may be made up at this time. Please let me know that you are coming in so that I will be in the classroom and not elsewhere in the building. I can be reached evenings at 722-7430 or at vopatbarbara@bcchs.org.
