Nine weeks grades are based upon:   1) 80% test and/or writing grades

                                                                        2) 20% daily grades.

Semester grades are determined by:   1) 45% first nine weeks average

                                                                        2) 45% second nine weeks average

                                                                        3) 10% semester test.

CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR:  Students are expected to show courtesy and respect for themselves, others, and this class at all times.  Demerits and/or teacher detentions will be issued to students violating the behavior code of this classroom and the agenda book.  Ten percentage points will be taken off for each incidence of talking without permission during a testing period.  Restroom needs should be taken care of before class;  ten minutes after school will be required as validation for restroom emergencies.

NO LATE PAPERS:  It is imperative that students complete each assignment on time in order to take full advantage of each day’s learning opportunities.  Therefore, all homework is due at the beginning of the period.  All students in that class period receive a 100% if a test or daily grade is not graded and handed back within two class periods.  An exception to this is writing assignments which must be graded and handed back within a week.  Deadlines for other lengthier assignments will be announced when they are assigned.

MAKE-UP WORK:  Make-up work must be completed the next day.  If more than one day is missed, a grace period equal to the number of days missed applies.  If make-up work is not turned in within the appropriate time period, a zero is recorded.  Students with in- and out-of-school suspensions will be expected to make up any work and will be assessed a 50% penalty.  Any major tests missed during the week must be made up by 7:50 a.m. the following Tuesday.

CHEATING:  Cheating is a serious offense.  Students exhibiting inappropriate communication during a test will receive an automatic reduction of their grade by ten percent for each incidence. Students found with physical evidence of cheating will receive a zero, and the infraction will be referred to the office as a major violation.  If another student’s work is involved, that student as well as the student who is copying will receive a zero on that grade.

EXTRA CREDIT:  No extra credit will be given on an individual basis.  Occasionally, however, an extra credit opportunity may be offered to the entire class.

EXTRA HELP AVAILABLE:  Any student wanting extra help can come in either before or after school.  In general, I will be in 411 by 7:25 a.m. and after school until 3:45 p.m.  Sometimes I do have meetings scheduled at those times, so it is better to make an appointment with me to guarantee I’ll be there.  Tests which might require more time to make up can be taken before school on Tuesday from 7:00 to 7:50 a.m.
