American History Geography Physical Education
Course Description:
This is an American History survey course in which the students will analyze the key political, social, and economic developments in the rise of the United States from the colonial era to its position as a world leader. The students will apply these concepts to current situations. In the junior year we will be covering the Age of Exploration through World War I.
Benchmarks: These are objectives that the students will reach by the end of their junior year.
1. The learner uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals, groups, developments, and turning points in the exploration, colonization, and the settlement of the U.S.
2. The learner uses a working knowledge of individuals, groups, ideas, developments, and turning points in the American Revolution and the development of the United States as a nation.
3. The learner uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals, groups, ideas, developments, and turning points in the Civil War through the Industrial Era of the United States.
4. The learner uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals, groups, ideas, developments, and turning points in the era of the emergence of the modern United States.
5. The learner engages in historical thinking skills.
Grading Scale
Your semester grade will be based on the following: 1st 9 weeks grade: 45%
2nd 9 weeks grade: 45%
Final Test grade: 10%
A+ 100-99 A 98-95 A- 94-93
B+ 92-91 B 90-87 B- 86-85
C+ 84-83 C 82-78 C- 77-76
D+ 75-74 D 73-72 D- 71-70
A three (3) point daily grade will be given based on
conduct, behavior, and constructive participation. This is at the
instructor’s discretion.
M.O.M. (Misuse of Materials)
You are responsible for assignments and test material. Please do not abuse the learning environment. Do your own work. If you choose to assist another student or use other people’s material during a test, quiz, or other related work you will be in violation, and it will be addressed as cheating. Cheating will result in a zero (-0-) for the test, quiz, or other class work.
Trust is very important and a key to the teacher/student and student/teacher relationship. You would not cheat your M.O.M, Misuse of Material.
If you are unexcused or suspended, you are expected to make up your work. Material missed will be needed for exam purposes. Work will be graded and the maximum grade you can receive is 50%.

Keep hands, feet, and objections to oneself.
Follow the rules as outlined in the student handbook.
You may have water bottles, but they must be kept in the backpack throughout the class period.
Cell phones are not allowed in class.
Must Bring: Paper, notebook, pencil and/or pen, and textbook or what is required.
Tardies:
Be in your seat ready to work before the tardy bell rings. Detention may be given for an infraction.
Class Work: Lecturing: Note taking is required during the lecture and notes are to be kept in the notebook.
Films and Videos: These will be viewed periodically on pertinent subjects.
Worksheets and Assignments: There will be various assignments that will implement the lecture and the chapter. Late papers will result in no credit unless the absence was excused. See planner.
Term Paper: There will be one term paper assigned. The grade will be equal to the grade on a test.
Homework:
Assignments will be due at the beginning of the class hour on the due date unless otherwise specified.
Late papers will be accepted one day only after due date but will be severely penalized unless prior permission is granted.
Homework due on days when the student is participating in a school activity away from school or when the student is gone due to a prearranged excused absence will be due on the day that he/she returns.
Purpose
The student will apply their knowledge of map skills by analyzing, identifying particular geographic areas and environmental conditions, and illustrating the effects of these on world cultures.

If you need to see me, I will be available at 7:25am, and after school. During football season, it would be best to make arrangements. I will not be available after school during football season.

Semester Grade= 90% (18 weeks) and 10% (semester
final)
Your grade in P.E. is composed of two elements.
1. All students must be in their assigned are after dressing out. Failure to do this = (-1)
a. Freshman- Complete P.E. uniform, shorts, shirt, socks, and shoes. Girls must have a plain white T-shirt under P.E. shirt. This is optional for boys. (-2)
b. Advanced P.E.- Solid colors, shorts, small logo allowed, sweat shorts (if hemmed). T-shirt must be a solid color: WHITE, GRAY, GREEN, OR GOLD. No logos. No cut-off shorts and shirts must have full sleeves. B.C. shirts are OK, and socks must be crew or tube (no ankle socks). (-2)
c. If you are not dressed in complete P.E. uniform, you will not be able to participate in class that day.
***CONTINUED DISREGARD FOR THE ABOVE RULES WILL RESULT IN ADDITIONAL LOSS OF POINTS OR DETENTION (S). ***
Note: Students must dress out daily unless instructed to do otherwise. A grade is given for this class therefore daily participation is accepted. A WRITTEN EXCUSE FROM FAMILY PHYSICIAN IS THE ONLY ACCEPTABLE EXCUSE FOR THIS CLASS.
Cheating: Giving, taking, or being associated with the giving of information during a test exam, or any other assignment will result in the grade of ZERO for that assignment.
Suspended Students: In or out of school suspension, will result in the loss of daily participation points. Written work must be made up and will be dropped one letter grade.
Please inform your P.E. teacher of any pre-existing medical conditions that might be affected by your P.E. class. Thank you.
