Course
Description:
This is a U.S. History survey course covering the rise of the United
States after WWI to the United States’ role as a world power in the 20th
Century. Students will analyze key
social, economic, and political activity throughout this time period.

Course
Goals:
The learner uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals,
groups, ideas, developments, and turning points in the exploration,
colonization, and the settlement of the U.S. to 1763.
The learner uses a working knowledge of individuals, groups, ideas,
developments, and turning points in the American Revolution and the development
of the United States as a nation.
The learner uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals,
groups, ideas, developments, and turning points in the Civil War through the
Industrial era of the United States.
The learner uses a working knowledge and understanding of individuals,
groups, ideas, developments, and turning points in the era of the emergence of
the modern United States.
The learner engages
in historical thinking skills.
Course
Evaluation:
Quizzes and Tests: A Chapter
Quiz will be given following the conclusion of each
Chapter.
A Unit Test will be given following the conclusion of each Unit.
Homework: Homework
assignments will be given throughout the course. Including:
Students
will keep a notebook or binder throughout the semester.
They will keep all
notes
from class in their notebook . Notebooks
will be graded each Unit.
Projects: Projects will be
assigned throughout the course. Students
will be provided
rubrics
to follow and graded on their ability to meet its requirements.
Final Exams: A final
exam will be given at the end of each semester.
Final exams
will
be cumulative and count towards 10%
of the student’s overall grade.
Note:
I reserve the right to assess student learning without prior notification.

Students will be in their seats with
all required materials before the
bell rings.
You are responsible for your own work
Late
Work:
All homework and projects will be due at the beginning of the hour on the
date which it is due, unless otherwise specified.
Homework turned in after this is late,
late homework will be given a zero. Late
projects and notebooks will be given half credit when turned in.
If a student has an excused absence, they have one day for everyday they
were absent to complete the missed work.
Suspension: half credit will be awarded for completed work.
Academic Dishonesty:
Cheating will not
be tolerated. Any form of academic
dishonesty will merit a zero and demerit. I
withhold the right to evaluate each situation though, and provide just
consequences towards the deviating action.

systems of the United States and other nations with an emphasis on the U.S.
Constitution, the necessity for the rule of law, the civic values of the
American Constitutional democracy, and the rights, privileges, and moral
responsibilities to become active participants in the democratic process and
one's faith.
