Supplies: Your textbook and computer paper will be provided.  Bring something to write with.

 

Classroom Procedures: When you come into the computer lab, take your seat and begin typing the assignment that is written on the board.  If you are not at your workstation when the bell rings, you will be counted tardy and a demerit will be issued (refer to demerit policy in student handbook).

Absences:                   If you are absent from class you have three (3) school days in which to make up the assignments that were missed.  After three school days the missing assignments will be recorded as zero (0).  Make up work has to be completed before or after school in the computer lab (see office hours below).  The lab portion of you grade is based on participation, preparation, and attitude during class.  Assignments missed due to in-school or out-of-school suspensions will be issued half credit.

 

Behavior:                    Please review the Agenda Book regarding school policies on Attendance, Tardiness, the Dress Code, and the Demerit System.  You are expected to behave in a professional manner when in the computer lab.  Playing computer games, instant messaging, and surfing the Internet are not allowed in this class.  Do not change any aspects of the Desktop (Inserting new icons, changing background, etc.).  Students are responsible for their workstation and the materials at it.  If you computer or book is damaged, you will be held responsible to replacement or repairs.  Cheating will result in demerits and a zero (0) given for the assignment.  Any procedures not covered please refer to agenda book.

 

Office Hours:              I will be in Room 603 or 605 from 7:25 am to 7:55 am and from 3:15 PM to 3:45 PM for                                                        consultation and students needing to use the lab for make up work.  The lab will be                                                         closed after school on Fridays.

GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

 

1.             Analyze and interpret business transactions related to accounting by classifying assets, liabilities, equity, revenue, and expenses.

2.             Interpret financial statements, proving the accuracy of records, and closing the ledger accounts.

3.             Demonstrate time management skills by completing assignments efficiently, legibly, and accurately.

 

ATTENDANCE:  All students are to be in class, seated and ready for work when the bell rings.  Failure to do so will result in one demerit (refer to agenda book for demerit policies).  When students are absent, it is their responsibility to check with the teacher and make arrangements to complete the work that was missed.  Advance notice will be given on all tests.  If you are gone on the day of a test, you will be expected to make it up the FIRST school day you are back (unless other arrangements have been made through the teacher).

 

BEHAVIOR:  Students are expected to demonstrate by their behavior and attitude that they are trying to learn.  Behavior that keeps other from learning will not be tolerated.  General courtesy and a positive attitude are qualities expected from all students.

 

CHEATING:  Students caught cheating will receive a zero on the assignment or test and your parents will be notified.  On the second violation, a conference with your parents will be required to continue this class.

 

ASSIGNMENTS:  Assignments are expected to be handed in by the designated due date.  NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!! If you are absent, get your assignment(s) from your teacher the day you return.  Assignments missed because of out-of-school, in-school suspension, or unexcused absence will result in 50% credit given on the assignment(s), if it is turned in the next class meeting.

GRADING:  A final exam given every semester will account for 10% of your final grade.  Each nine weeks will count for 45% of your final grade for a total of 100%.  I use the weighted average system for grading.  Participation will count for 15%, daily assignments 35%, and tests 50%.  The case study we do toward the end of the second semester will count for partial daily assignment and partial test.

 

You will receive a participation grade every day you are in class.  Failure to bring necessary materials, messing around or not working during class will result in loss of participation points.

3.             Prepare adjusting entries on the 10-column worksheet for corporations.

2.                Accounting for Short-Term Investments and Notes Receivable.

3.                Determine the quantity, cost, and valuation of inventories.

4.                Determine the costs of depreciation as it pertains to Property, Plant, and Equipment Assets.

3.             Issue both Common and Preferred Stock as well as dividends.

4.             Prepare the end of the period financial statements as well as analysis and interpretation of these statements.
